Counting Down (2019 edition)

Burn, baseball, burn!
(Not an Alan Smithee film)

I interrupt the already extremely belated coverage of the August 2018 Northwest trip to answer the timeless question, "Hey, where are you guys going this year?" I'm so glad you asked.

May
Charlotte Stone Crabs
Dunedin Blue Jays
Clearwater Threshers
Florida Fire Frogs – who can resist flaming amphibian gear?
Bradenton Pirates
Lakeland Flying Tigers

June–July
Richmond Flying Squirrels
Fayetteville Woodpeckers
High Point Rockers (Atlantic League)
Danville Braves
Pulaski Yankees
Princeton Rays
Bluefield Blue Jays
Salem Red Sox
Lynchburg Hillcats

August, maybe
Sacramento River Cats
Stockton Ports
San Francisco Giants (MLB)
Oakland A’s (MLB)
San Jose Giants
Modesto Nuts
Reno Aces
Las Vegas 51s (maybe)

If this holds up, by my reckoning, we will have just six teams left*:

            Nashville Sounds
            Gwinnett Stripers
Elizabethton Twins
Greeneville Reds
Kingsport Mets
Amarillo Sod Poodles – who can resist… um… sod poodle? … gear?

Alas, there four new stadiums slated to open next year:

            Madison, AL (ex-Mobile Bay Bears)
            Fredericksburg, VA (ex-Potomac Nationals)
            Wichita (ex-New Orleans Baby Cakes)
            Texas Rangers

And then there’s Worcester in 2021….

*My reckoning is not Rob's reckoning. There are exceptions; there are qualifications; there are things that might or might not count. Let's not go through all that right here. I can't bear to contemplate my likely return to Dunedin some time after this trip.
